Adrenal Support

- Avoid exhaustion while expecting
The adrenal glands are arguably best known for secreting the hormone adrenaline, which rapidly prepares your body to spring into action in a stressful situation. They are hormone-producing glands and part of the sympathetic nervous system. When stimulated, whether abruptly or as a result of ongoing stress, adrenaline helps you to deal with the situation more effectively.
If they become over-stressed, their ability to meet the body’s needs become impaired, increasing anxiety and causing continued stress as well as fatigue. You may also notice mid-day slumps and sometimes sensitivities to cold when the adrenal glands are over-stressed.
The body may become over-stressed for a wide variety of reasons either from physical, emotional, or mental stress. This could be from continuous physical labor, having an ongoing busy schedule, the loss of a loved one, or even food sensitivities. Each of these examples can put the body into a continuous state of stress that wears the adrenal glands down over time. Herbal support of the adrenal gland can normalize its function, and maintain a healthy, working sympathetic nervous system.
Exhaustion and expecting go hand-in-hand for many moms. Changes in your body include the adrenal glans increasing in size and activity. Pregnenolone, a hormone produced by the adrenal glands, is used by the nervous, glandular, and musculoskeletal system. All these systems can become stressed during pregnancy, leaving your adrenal glands drained and you feeling tired and dreary. Supporting the adrenal glands with herbs may be helpful for expecting and nursing moms.
Though MMH considers this formula safe for moms, men and non-pregnant or nursing women can benefit from it as well.
Dosage Suggestions:
Health Canada: (Adults) 1.25 ml 3 times a day
Mountain Meadow Herbs: 0-2 years: 5-10 drops; 3-11 years: 1/8 tsp; 12+ years: 1/4 tsp
Shake well. Take 1-3 times daily, or as needed. (1 dropperful = 1/8 tsp)
Note: Discontinue use 5 weeks prior to scheduled surgery as Astragalus may cause excess bleeding and Wild Yam may lower NSAID's (Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs) abilities to lessen inflammation. We suggest avoiding the use of stimulants, such as caffeine. Caffeine can further stress the adrenal glands to work harder.
