Evening Primrose oil may be helpful during pregnancy to maintain normal blood pressure, shorten labor, start labor and avoid late delivery. Its use is controversial as it may increase the risk of heavy bleeding when ingested in the 3 weeks prior to delivery.
There are midwives who recommend using the soft gels as suppositories to soften the cervix prior to the onset of labor or to start labor. Please consult with your healthcare provider prior to attempting to use it to start labor or ingesting during late pregnancy.
